Abbey Hamilton

Abbey Lyn Bentley Hamilton, 28, wife of Charles “Chad” Hamilton of Coal Grove, passed away Saturday May 12, 2012, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Abbey was born Aug. 24, 1983 to Rosemary Roberts Lewis and Timothy Bentley who survive. Abby was a 2002 graduate of Ironton High School and received her associate degree in Applied Science from the Ohio University in 2006. She was employed as a caseworker for the Department of Jobs and Family services in Ironton. Abbey was preceded in death by her Dad Glen Lewis, her “Granny” Maddy Roberts and Peggy Patterson. Along with her husband and parents Abbey is survived by her brothers, Ryan (Nikki) Bentley and Daniel (Lauren) Monnig of Deering; her special niece, Lexi Bentley; grandparents, Edwards Roberts of Ironton and Ray and Iva Bentley of Coal Grove; mother-in-law, Carol Harper and father in law Matt Burcham; sister-in-law Tracy (Paul) Dale and brother-in-law Kyle Burcham. Additional survivors include special friend Tabitha Patterson; cousins, aunts uncles and friends who cannot imagine this world without her. Abbey will be missed by all who knew her. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Woodland Cemetery with John Paul Patterson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home. Donations are requested in Abbey’s name to Community Hospice 1538 Central Ave. Ashland, KY 41101.

 

Dorothy Sierer

Dorothy Sierer, 84, of Ironton, died on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Community Hospice Care Center. She was born in Ashland, Ky., on Aug 15, 1927, the daughter of the late William Raymond Dickenson and Della Mae Dent Dickenson. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Ironton and the Catholic Women’s Club. Preceding her in death were husband, Paul W. Sierer; two brothers, Harry Dickenson and William Dickenson; and one sister, Phyllis Highley. Survivors include daughters, Carol (Ovid) Wilson of Ironton, Ann Artis of Ironton, Susan (Jon) Morin of Raleigh N.C., Judy Wain of Ironton and Linda Pennington of Ironton; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be at St Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday at noon with Rev David Huffman officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m.-noon and Rosary at 11 a.m. at O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
