Ironton police are investigating an assault early Tuesday morning that sent one man to the hospital. Daniel Carlile, 35, of 618 S. 10th St., was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va., just after midnight, Ironton Police Detective Chris Bowman said.
Bowman said police were called to the Fuzzy Duck at the Center Street Boat Landing just after midnight Tuesday in regards to a fight. When officers arrived they found Carlile on the ground, faced upward, unresponsive and bleeding from wounds to his head and face.
Sharon Shaw, spokeswoman for St. Mary’s Medical Center, said Carlile is no longer a patient at the hospital.
Police are also investigating approximately a dozen incidents of car vandalism in the south end of the city late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Six complaints came from the 2500 block of South Eighth Street; the rest came the area surrounding it.
Glass was broken out of the vehicles; windshields were smashed. One witness told police there were “men on cars” in the 2600 block of South Eighth Street. In one instance, a victim told police there was a boot print on the hood of their car.
“We have had a few phone calls and we are pursuing a couple of suspects,” Bowman said.
He said anyone with information about these incidents may call the Ironton police detectives bureau at 532-5606.
