Chesy girls stun Fairland

PROCTORVILLE — It was a typical Chesapeake vs. Fairland game.
In a matchup of rivals, the Chesapeake Lady Panthers overcame 14 walks and five errors to upset the Fairland Lady Dragons 16-14 on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“We had a chance to put the game away earlier, but we had too many walks and errors. But give our girls credit. They never quit,” said Chesapeake coach Aaron Rice.
The two teams combined for 26 hits including 14 by the Lady Panthers.
Macy Allen and Breanna Skeens each went 3-4 for Chesapeake while Ali Ransbottom was 2-3 and Anna Mayo, Caitlin Heffner and Jordan Porter were 2-4.
Mayo, Heffner and Allen all had doubles.
Jaimie Phillips was 3-4 to lead Fairland. Ellen Hinshaw and Chandler Fulks went 2-3 and Kerie Napier was 2-4.
Hinshaw, Fulks and Napier each hit a double.
The game was 4-4 after three innings but Chesapeake erupted for nine runs in the fourth inning.
Chesapeake (4-14, 4-6) hosts Green on Tuesday.
