Mary Lehrke

Mary Marguerite (Markins) Lehrke, 92, of Fairborn, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012. She was born Aug. 27, 1919 in Lawrence County to the late George and Lillian (Mays) Markins. She was united in marriage to John “Jack” Lehrke (ret.) who died in 1974.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Massie and Imogene Large; and five brothers, William “Wid” Markins, Alex Markins, George R. Markins, Harry Edward Markins, and Alton Markins; and special friend for many years, Paul Cole of Fairborn.

Ms Lehrke worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, beginning in WWII where she retired in 1976. She also participated in many activities in and around the Fairborn area including more than 50 years of service as a member of 62 White Shrine of Jerusalem, an honorary life member of Chapter 614 in NARFE, the Republican Women’s Club of Xenia, a 60 year member of Eastern Star 536 of Fairborn, member of the Fairborn Senior Citizens Center, and St. Luke Methodist Church.

She is survived by a sister, Juanita Brunner in Fairborn, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends.

A graveside service will be noon Monday at Woodland Cemetery in Ironton. Family will receive friends at Morris Sons Funeral Home, 104 Main St, Fairborn, from 1 to 3 p.m Sunday. Beatrice Schwab

Beatrice (Bea) Rose Schwab, 92, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, of natural causes in Cincinnati.

She was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Wheelersburg to Bernard Benjamin and Mary Hellen (Bihl) Schwamberger. She was a long time resident of Ironton before moving to Cincinnati after the death of her husband Leonard in 2001. Beatrice graduated from Wheelersburg High School in 1937. After graduation, she moved to Cleveland to work in a munitions plant making bullets for the war effort. Shortly afterwards, she married Leonard F Schwab, her husband of 58 years, on June 20, 1943 in Dothan, Ala. Afterwards, they returned to Ironton to raise their family of nine. After raising her children, she worked and retired from the State of Ohio, Office of Unemployment Compensation, retiring after 10 years of service in 1987.

She devoted a majority of her time and energy as a caregiver to her family. She delighted in cooking, quilting and later in life discovered her talent for watercolor painting. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Pine Grove.

Mrs. Schwab is survived by her sister, Agnes Kline (Wheelersburg) and sister-in-law, Mrs. John (Margaret) Schwab (Ironton); nine children and their spouses, Judith and Cecil Dean (Perry, Mo.), Jane and Andrew Sencack (Albuquerque, N.M.), James and Paige Schwab (Columbus), Paul and Yvonne Schwab (Columbus), Robert Schwab (Cincinnati), Lawrence and Kathy Schwab(Cincinnati), Bernard Schwab and Sylvia MacDonald (Cincinnati), Rita LeVine and John Knipper (Tampa, Fla.), Eileen and Tony Tausch (Cincinnati); and 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Richard Eric Dean and her husband, Leonard F. Schwab.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 1, starting at 9 a.m. with a rosary being said at noon at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home in Ironton. Father David Huffman will officiate Mass at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Pine Grove.

 

Peyton Crisp

Peyton Lynn Marie Crisp, 16 weeks old, daughter of Shonda Rister of South Point and Roger Allen of Pedro, died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel.

 

Beverly Christian-Savage

Beverly Lynn Christian-Savage, 65, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Kings Daughters Medical Center. She was the wife of Gary Edwin Savage, who survives. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with Pastor Ken Gowin officiating. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East.
