Barbara Cales

Barbara J. Cales, 83, of Cridersville, died at 4:45 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Otterbein of Cridersville. She was born Aug. 18, 1928, in Ironton, to James Harry and Eleanor (Mitchell) Lane who preceded her in death. On Oct. 10, 1947, she married William P. Cales who died Nov. 29, 2002.

Mrs. Cales had been a beautician and owner of Mimi’s Style Room, Lima. She was a member of Bluelick United Methodist Church, Lima.

Surviving are a son, Robert (Mary) Cales of Largo, Fla.; two grandsons, Cory Cales of Lima and Chris Cales of North Carolina; four stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Sarnstrom and Janet Massey, both of Mesa, Ariz.; and three nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Matt Cales, who died in 2004.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, Lima. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. Visitation will be from 11 a.m., until the time of service. Joyce Jenkins

Joyce A. Jenkins, 62, of Ironton, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012, at her residence.

The Canton native was born Nov. 5, 1949, the daughter of Bill Marks and the late Pearl Goe Marks. She is survived by her husband Charles “Ben” Jenkins.

Joyce attended Canton City Schools and was a former assembly worker for Medventure Technology Corp. in Jeffersonville, Ind. She was a member of the Lorain Street Mission Chapel.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her son, Donald Wright of South Point; six grandchildren, Emily and Dustin Wright, Brennin, Cain, Rachel and Cheyenne Jenkins and three sisters, Linda of Canton, Pam of Upper Sandusky and Mary of Canton.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Brother Jack Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Donations may be made in Joyce’s name to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave. Ashland, KY 41101. Fred Wood

Fred Wood, 87, of Chesapeake, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, in Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington W.Va. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris M. Wood. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Burial with military honors will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Masonic rites at 7 p.m.

 

Ada Chandler

Ada R. Chandler, 75, of Chesapeake, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin R. Chandler.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville. Pastor Paul Merritt and Pastor Ross McCullon will officiate. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller.
