Bobcats’ offense explodes in 25-0 rout of Clay

PORTSMOUTH — The Green Bobcats went to a baseball on Monday and a football game broke out.
The Bobcats pounded out 26 hits including 11 extra base hits en route to a 25-0 rout of the Portsmouth Clay Panthers in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
“We had a real good hitting performance. We played extremely well offensively and defensively,” said Green coach Dan McDavid whose team did not make an error.
“We got good pitching, too. We played real well today.”
Colton Brammer went the first three innings to get the win for Green (6-3, 5-1). Clay Applegate finished up.
Cody Bruce was 3-4 with a double and two triples and three runs batted in for Green. Clay Applegate was 3-4 with two doubles and three RBI, Rob Applegate 3-4 with a double and two RBI, Steven Ratcliff 3-3 with two doubles and four RBI, and Adam Riffitt 2-2 with a three-run homer in a 16-run second inning.
Also joining the hit parade were Mike Avery 2-5 and an RBi, Kyle Schwab 2-2 with a double, Billy Ratliff 1-1 with a triple and RBI, Chris Allen 1-1 and an RBI and Mat Howard 1-3 with two RBI.
The Bobcats host South Point on Tuesday.
