Dr. Kurt Hofmann won his party’s nomination Tuesday and, in so doing, won a second term as Lawrence County Coroner. Hofmann is unopposed in the general election as no Democrat filed to run for that office.
By the end of the evening, Hofmann had collected 3,797 votes, or 54.43 percent of the votes cast. Dr. Rodolfo Canos placed second with 1,869 votes, or 26.79 percent. Dr. Kimberly Lauder collected 1,310 votes, or 18.78 percent.
Hofmann said he thought he won, “because of my expertise and name recognition, having been through this four years ago. I‘ve been doing the job four years and I have the support of my party.”
He thanked everyone who had worked for his campaign, particularly his wife, Christina, and the people who went to the various polls Tuesday to get the word out one last time.
The coroner’s race was one of the few contested races in the Tuesday primary; most other races were uncontested and some, including sheriff, prosecutor, engineer, recorder and clerk of courts as well as one county commission seat, will be uncontested in the general election as well.
