Things go ‘good’ for Flyer girls

SOUTH PORTSMOUTH, Ky. — All signs pointed toward “good” for the St. Joseph Female Flyers.
St. Joseph turned in a good all-around effort as they closed out the regular season on Saturday with a 57-18 win over Harvest Christian.
“There were some good things about the game,” said St. Joseph coach Nick Miller. “We got a chance to play everyone a lot and it was good to finish 10-10. Now we can focus on the tournament.”
The Female Flyers play Manchester at 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the Div. IV sectional tournament at Northwest.
Nine of the 11 Female Flyers scored led by Hannah Miller with 15 points and Amber Neal with 14. Sarah Neal and Becca Patrick had 6 each.
Cassie Shumaker led Harvest Christian with 12.
Miller scored 6 points and Bartram and Patrick 4 each in the first quarter as St. Joseph raced to an 18-2 lead.
The Neal sisters took over in the second quarter as Amber scored 8 and Sarah 4 and the Female Flyers’ lead was 34-4 at the half.
Miller came back with 7 points in the third quarter and the lead ballooned to a 51-10 cushion.
Coach Miller emptied his bench for the fourth quarter.
