Lady Herd softball banquet, clinic will feature Galindo

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Championship Fastpatch and Marshall softball will host U.S. Softball Olympian Vicky Galindo for a clinic this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Available to any and all interested persons, the clinic will include current Marshall softball players and coaches. All participants will receive instruction in all phases of softball.

The cost to participate is $65 per person and advance registration is highly preferred.

Galindo is a member of the USA Softball Women’s National Team and seven year veteran of the National Pro Fastpitch League for the Chicago Bandits (NPF).

A 2005 graduate and All-American at the University of California Berkeley, Vicky helped lead the Cal Bears to three Women’s College World Series appearances.

She has numerous accomplishments in the softball world including a Gold medal at the Pan American Games (2007), Two-time World Cup Champion (2006 and 2007), Silver Medalist at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China and two-time NPF Champion.

The clinic will be held at Championship Fastpitch’s facility located at 1900 Shopes Creek Road in Ashland, Ky.

In conjunction with Sunday’s clinic, Marshall softball — along with the Diamond Club — will host Galindo for a fundraising dinner Saturday on Marshall’s campus starting at 6 p.m.
