Colts’ owner Jim Irsay fired Jim Caldwell last Tuesday and his list of candidates has been reported to include Tennessee Titans’ defensive coordinator Jerry Gray, New Orleans Saints’ offensive coordinator Pete Caldwell, Cincinnati Bengals’ defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer and Tressel.

Irsay also fired team vice chairman Bill Polian and his son, general manager Chris.

Tressel was hired as a consultant for the Colts in September. He resigned last May following NCAA violations and lying about the violations. Five players were suspended including quarterback Terrelle Pryor who went to the NFL.

Irsay tweeted on Saturday that he would make a decision on the new coach sometime this week.

The Colts were 2-14 this past season and played the year without quarterback Peyton Manning due to a third neck surgery

Indianapolis has the first overall pick in the draft and are expected to take Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck.
