WILLOW WOOD — Change is good.

By changing their plan of attack, the Symmes Valley Vikings got their offense in gear as they beat the New Boston Tigers 69-67 on Tuesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

Mitch Corn hit two foul shots with four seconds left to snap a 67-67 tied as the Vikings improved to 4-5 and 4-1 in the SOC.

“We tried a few new things to change things up and get going. We used our press to get us going,” said Vikings’ coach Jerome Fuller.

“I felt we needed at least 65 points to win. We get a lot of possessions when you go, but you have to make some shots and we did tonight.”

D.J. Miller made plenty of shots as he scored a career-high 29 points to lead the Vikings.

Austin Baldwin had 16 points and 8 rebounds while Tyler Rowe grabbed 17 rebounds and Corn 11.

Levi Horsley scored 23 to lead four Tigers in double figures.

“That’s a big win. It keeps us alive (in the SOC race),” said Fuller.

The Vikings led 23-15 after the first quarter but fell behind 35-32 at the half.

Miller scored 10 points in the third quarter and 10 more in the fourth to spark the Vikings’ comeback.
