Camilla Ruth

PEDRO — Camilla Kay Ruth, 73, of Pedro, passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W. Va. The Pedro native was born Nov. 9, 1938, the daughter of the late Forrest Kyle and Alcinda M. Miller Boggs. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Orrell Junior Ruth of Pedro.

Mrs. Ruth was a graduate of Decatur-Washington Schools. She was a former leather grader for Wilsons Sporting Goods for 13 years and attended Kelleys Bridge Independent Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Brian Kidd of Pedro; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Secret Ruth of South Point; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and James Newman of Wheelersburg; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Forrest “Bub” and Betty Boggs of Pedro, Harold and Linda Boggs of Wheelersburg, Roger and Rebecca Boggs of Pedro and Keith Eugene Boggs of Pedro; six grandchildren, Brian and Chrissy Kidd of Pedro, Jason and Tiffani of Pedro, Joshua Ruth, Samuel Ruth, Nicholas Ruth all of Barboursville, W.Va. and James C. Preston of South Point; four great grandchildren, Josie Lee Kidd, Brian Kidd III, Kylynn Rae Kidd and Kerigan Yvonne Kidd, all of Pedro.

Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Green and Rev. Donald Delawder officiating. Burial will follow in Puckett Cemetery and visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Brian Kidd, Jr., Jason Kidd, James Preston, Joshua Ruth, Tim Boggs, and Shane Hanshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Koster, John Blankenship, and Steve Miller. Paul Leffingwell

CHESAPEAKE — Paul “Hammie” Leffingwell, 76, lifelong resident of Chesapeake, entered into his eternal home, Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. His life will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at Burlington Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery. Hammie was born Nov. 20, 1935, in Chesapeake, a son of the late Harry and Allie Henson Leffingwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his precious son, Paul Franklin Leffingwell in 1980; his sister, Iona Murray; his brothers, James Leffingwell and David “Slug” Leffingwell; and his brother-in-law, Marvin Coyner. Hammie was a graduate of Chesapeake High School in 1955, was a former Village of Chesapeake Councilman, served nearly 50 years as a former Chesapeake Little League President and Little League and Tee Ball Coach. He served on the Chesapeake Board of Education for 32 years and also the Collins Career Center Board for 22 years, was a Republican Committeeman, former Juvenile Probation Officer, and worked for the Ohio Department of Highways. He attended Burlington Baptist Church. Hammie is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol Schwartz Leffingwell; two sisters, Madalene Coyner of Barboursville, W.Va., and Pauline Meadows of Inwood, W.Va.; one brother, Daniel Leffingwell of Belpre and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. RUSSELL, Ky. — Jack B. Layne, 61, of Russell, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at his residence. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. today at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Ky., with Rev.
