Beulah Miller
Beulah Wilma Miller, 81, died Jan. 6, 2012, in Fort Pierce, Fla.
Beulah was born in Huntington, W.Va., and was a resident of Fort Pierce since 1969, coming from Waterloo.
She was a homemaker, a member of Bible Baptist Church and retired from Bell South after 30 years.
Survivors include her daughters, Jean Minton and Janet Miller, both of Fort Pierce; son, Leslie Miller of Fort Pierce; sister, Dorothy Whitehead of Wurtland, Ky.; brother, Bill Harmon of California; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a service at 1 p.m. at the Haisley Chapel. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.haisleyfuneralhome.com.
Jewell Rusk
Jewell Camille McDonie Rusk, 89, of Ironton, died Friday Jan. 6, 2012, at her daughter’s home in Gallipolis. The Huntington, W.Va. native was born July 5, 1922, the daughter of the late Harry McDonie and Katie Ray Miller. She was the widow of the late James Rusk.
Jewell attended Washington schools in Washington D.C. She was a homemaker and attended the City Mission Church in Ironton.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Paul Rusk Sr.
She is survived by son, Danny Lee Rusk of Ironton; daughter, Elizabeth Kay Cumpston of Catlettsburg, Ky.; daughter and son-in-law, Jewell and Bill Jenkins of Franklin Furnace; son and daughter-in-law, Sandy Ray and Pauletta Rusk of Ironton; daughter, Jan Rusk and Kevin Childers of Gallipolis; daughter-in-law, Betty Rusk of Hanging Rock; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 12 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Ross Cemetery. Merle V. Myers
WORTHINGTON, Ky. — Merle V. Myers, 79, of Worthington, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at his residents.
Mr. Myers was born Aug. 23, 1932, in Ironton, a son of the late Merrill and Clara Neal Myers. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jerre Halderman Myers.
He was a retired rigger for Armco.
Merle was a loving father and grandfather, who loved to spend time with his family and going fishing. He also really enjoyed playing cards with his buddies at the Raceland Community Center.
Surviving are one daughter, Jenny (Gary) Craft of Greenup, Ky.; one son, Max David (Linda) Meyers of Ironton; four grandchildren, Thomas Rice, Jeanine McKenzie, Stacy McFann and Brandon Myers; and five great grandchildren, Max McKenzie, Maycen McKenzie, Jeremy Fetters, Aria Rice and Ethan Rice.
Friends may call Wednesday from 10 a.m. to the time of service at noon at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Paul Neal. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
Carole Mossburg
PROCTORVILLE — Carole Ann Mossburg, 74, of Proctorville, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was the wife of Thomas Mossburg, who survives. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church by Father Charles Moran. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home. James Turley
CROWN CITY — James Thomas Turley, 83, of Crown City, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at home. He was the husband of Helen Turley, who survives. CHESAPEAKE — Paul “Hammie” Leffingwell, 76, of Chesapeake, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. His life will be celebrated Thursday at Burlington Baptist Church.
