Redwomen down Lady Lancers

WELLSTON — By making some changes the Rock Hill Redwomen changed their fate.

Trailing at halftime, the Redwomen made some adjustments and outscored Federal Hocking 40-18 in the second half to beat the Lady Lancers 58-43 on Saturday in the Lady Rockets Holiday Classic.

“We just went through the motions in the first half. We switched things up in the second half and we looked a lot crisper,” said Rock Hill coach Alvin Carpenter.

Katie Johnson had 17 points to lead Rock Hill (4-2). Chelsea Harper had 11 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists and 8 steals for a solid all-around game.

Tommi Butler and Morgan Damron added 7 rebounds each.

“Johnson played pretty well. She’s been coming on the last few games,” said Carpenter.

Ashton Cale had 15 points, Cheyenne Singer 13 and Carley Tabler 12 for Federal Hocking (1-6).

The Lady Lancers took an 11-7 first quarter lead. Johnson had 6of Rock Hill’s points.

Brooke Hanshaw scored 5 points in the second quarter but the Lady Lancers went up 25-18 at the half.

Harper had 7 points in the third quarter as Rock Hill outscored Federal Hocking 19-9 to take a 37-34 lead.

Madison Damron scored 6 points and Johnson was 4 of 4 at the foul line over the final two minutes to secure the win.
