Mayor, new council to be sworn in Thursday afternoon

The city of Ironton will officially get two new council members Thursday afternoon; Mayor Rich Blankenship will be sworn in as well. Council will meet later that evening for a brief organizational meeting.
Aaron Bollinger and Philip Heald, both elected in the Nov. 8 election, will be sworn in at 4:30 p.m., along with Blankenship, who enters his second term. Lawrence County Common Pleas Presiding Judge Charles Cooper will administer the oaths of office.
At 7:30 p.m. council will have its organizational meeting during which time a council secretary, city finance director and city solicitor will be hired for four-year terms.
