Brake failure is said to be the cause of an accident Friday afternoon that sent a car through a South Third Street business.

Ironton Police Chief Jim Carey said Lanelle Davis, 21, of 402 Spruce Street, was in the drive through at the Kwik Stop at 1616 S. Third St. when the brakes on her vehicle failed.

“She tried to stop and turned to miss another car and hit the building,” Carey said.

Davis was not injured. Carey said he had no information on the amount of damage that was done to the building.

The accident happened at 12:28 p.m. Friday.
