Hillis, Fujita don’t practice for Browns

BEREA (AP) — Browns starting running back Peyton Hillis is not practicing after straining his left hamstring during Sunday’s loss at Oakland.
Hillis was not on the indoor field with his teammates on Wednesday during the period of practice open to the media. Coach Pat Shurmur said Hillis would likely test his hamstring with some running. Shurmur said it was too early to say if Hillis will play this Sunday against Seattle.
Hillis is having a rough second season with Cleveland. He missed one game with strep throat and his ongoing contract talks with the Browns about an extension have been a distraction.
On Tuesday, the Browns signed running back Chris Ogbonnaya off Houston’s practice squad in case Hillis is out.
Also, the Browns sent starting linebacker Scott Fujita home with symptoms from a concussion suffered Sunday. Fujita was injured in the fourth quarter of the 24-17 loss. He was at the Browns’ training facility Wednesday, but Shurmur said the 10-year veteran wasn’t feeling well and was sent home to rest.
Browns cornerback Joe Haden also remains sidelined with a knee sprain. Haden, who missed last week’s game, has not been seen since hurting his knee against Tennessee on Oct. 2.
During the early stages of Wednesday’s practice, rookie nickel back Buster Skrine left the field escorted by a trainer. He did not return during the portion open to reporters.
