William Lockwood
William (Bill) Henry Lockwood 88 of Ironton, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at his sister’s home in Ashland, Ky., where his family had been caring for him.
He was born March 16, 1923, in Ashland to the late Ewell and Bertha Childers Lockwood.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Wilma Notter Lockwood and his daughter Donna Sue Lockwood (43), his sister Louise Burks and four brothers, Clarence, Charles, Raymond and John Lockwood.
He is survived by his son, Gregory (Greg) Lockwood of Denville, N.J., four sisters, Mae Dixon of Ashland, Mary Lockwood of Ashland, Betty Fannin of Flatwoods and Joann Akers of Ashland; a sister-in-law, Roma Lockwood and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was a member of Central Christian Church for over 50 years and had served as deacon, elder and trustee for many years. He volunteered for the food pantry and assisted Habitat for Humanity with many homes. He was a retired foreman for AK Steel (Armco), which was his lifelong job and he was a member of the Armco Management Club. He was stationed in the South Pacific in WWII as an aircraft artillery gun commander for the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Lawrence County Board of Developmentally Disabled. He has been a member of the Masonic Order and The El Hasa Shrine.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Central Christian Church, Ironton, with the Rev. Hoyt Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 93. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday with a masonic rites service conducted by Lawrence Lodge 198 at 7 p.m. at the Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton and 10-11 a.m. the day of the service at the church.

Robert Vincent
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Robert Ray Vincent, 85, of Woodlands Retirement Community in Huntington, formerly of Proctorville, Ohio, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at the retirement community. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday and New Hope United Methodist Church in Proctorville. Entombment will follow in Rome Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
