Rosalee Sheffield Martin

FLATWOODS, Ky. — Rosalee Sheffield Martin, 78, of Flatwoods, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at King’s Daughters Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 26, 1939, in Ashland, Ky., a daughter of the late Robert Boyd Sheffield and Edith Mae Blevins Sheffield. She was the owner and operator of Fireside Inn in Hindman, Ky., and day manager at the Dairy Cheer in Ashland. She was a member of Holy Family Church, Daughters of the King., Associates of the Congregation for the Divine Providence and the Guild of St. Monica.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Martin.

Surviving are four children, Tammy Montgomery of Flatwoods, Donald B. Montgomery, Gregory A. Montgomery, Brandi L. James and a son-in-law, Jesse J. James, all of Ashland; two sisters, Barbara Andre and Janie R. Wolfe, both of Flatwoods; a brother, Robert Gary Sheffield of Ashland; and nine grandchildren, Joshua A. and Austin M. Montgomery, both of Easton, Ill., Joell L. Montgomery and Jonathan D. Montgomery, both of Kings Mountain, N.C., and Ciara N. James, Jeffrey J. James, Tyler C. James and J. Joe James, all of Ashland, and Justin Minnehan of Flatwoods.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Church with the Rev. John Noe. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Lazear Funeral Home and an hour before the service at the church. There will be a Rosary service at the church.
