Zornes shoots 32 in Ironton tri-match

PINE GROVE — The temperature may not have been that hot, but Josh Zornes’ game appeared on fire.
Zornes shot a 3-under par 323 to take medalist honors in a tri-match at the Ironton Country Club on Wednesday.
Zornes had three birdies and six pars to lead the Ironton Fighting Tigers who finished with a team score of 213.
“Josh is strike the ball well lately,” said Ironton coach Jeff Kerns.
“He putted well for the last few weeks which has lowered his scores. He has learned to manage his gave very well and he is giving himself more chance to make birdies.”
Chesapeake won the match with a 163 score. The Coal Grove Hornets finished with a 173 and Luke McGraw of the St. Joseph Flyers shot a 48.
Eric Sias shot a 39 to lead the Panthers with Seth Waggoner shooting a 40.
Coal Grove was led by Brent Morgan with a 1-over 36 to finish second overall in the individual standings.
Conor Markins was next for the Hornets with a 42, Brandon Adkins shot a 46 and Coty Davidson a 49.
Rhett Ball was next for Ironton with a 56. Travis Taylor had a 62 and Jaylen Thornhill a 63.
Ironton plays at West Union on Thursday.
