William H. Keating

William H. Keating, 78, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at Jo-Lin Health Care Center in Ironton. The Lawrence County native was born May 28, 1933, the son of the late Edward W. and Elsie Cooke Keating. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Vianna McDonie Keating.

Bill was a graduate of Ironton High School with the class of 1952 and a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.

He was a former supervisor for Amcast, retiring after 31 years of service and attended the Storms Creek Baptist Church in Ironton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheri Lynn Pyles; and two brothers, Ronald L. Keating and Edward L. Keating.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law, William Jeffrey and Elizabeth Keating of Ironton; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and John Lewis of Ironton; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Catherine and Tim Shook of Jackson; a sister, Joyce Saunders of Baton Rouge, La.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in Woodland Cemetery with Pastor Kenny Hurst officiating and military graveside rites by VFW 8850. There will be no public visitation. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers will be William John Lewis, Rick McDonie, Keith Pavlick, Steve Pyles, Mark Cartmell, and Tim Shook.
