A Chesapeake man accused of breaking into another person’s home last month pleaded guilty Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
Kelly G. Doss, 20, of 47 Private Drive 99, told Judge D. Scott Bowling he was guilty of a July 2 burglary during which he took a 9mm handgun and several items of jewelry.
Bowling sentenced him to a total of four years in prison and fined him $2,658 plus court costs. He must report to the Lawrence County Jail Sept. 9 to be transported to prison.
“Thanks for being nice to me,” Doss said when asked if he had anything to say before being sentenced.
Also Wednesday, Leslie C. Wilks, 37, of 396 Private Drive 70, Lot 38, Proctorville, admitted he violated his community control sanctions, also known as probation, when he was arrested for driving under a license suspension, testing positive for drugs and failing to report to his probation officer as he was required to do.
Bowling sentenced Wilks to eight months in prison. Wilks was on probation for a 2009 drug charge.
