Lightning completes successful season

The L.C.K. Lightning U-14 girls’ select soccer team recently completed a successful season with a gold medal at the Bluegrass State Games held in Lexington, Ky., July 16-17. The team competed in the U-14 girls’ open division.

The team racked up tournament championships at the South Point “Kicking For A Cure,” Marshall University’s “Thunder In The Valley,” and they were runners-up as the only all-girls’ team at the Quantum Sports “Festival of Soccer” held in Charleston, W.Va.

Kaylee Sheridan, 12, is a member of the Lightning team that is comprised of girls from Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. Kaylee will be a seventh grade student at St. Joseph Junior High School this fall. She is the daughter of Mike and Rhonda Sheridan of Ironton and the granddaughter of Mike and Ina Sheridan.

The Lightning are coached by Brett Jenks and Kyle Wetherholt and trained by current Marshall team member Skye Smith.
