Hazel Marie Koster

SPRINGFIELD — Hazel Marie Koster, 84, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011.

She was born June 14, 1927, in Ashland, Ky., the daughter of James and Mae (Howard) Collins.

Mrs. Koster was a member of the United Brethren In Christ Church and was retired from the Ohio Masonic Home in 1983.

Survivors include three children, Dave (Linda) Nelson, of Springfield, Lindsey (Irene) Spradlin, of Westwood, Ky., and James (Roberta) Koster, of Worthington, Ky.; grandchildren, Phillip (Tammie) Koster, Sherry (Jeff) Bishop, Jeffrey (Lisa) Nelson, Diana (Donald) Comer, David (Rhonda) Nelson, Mark (Tracy) Nelson, Jody (Tony) Cox, Monica Metz, Mandy (Ron) Jordan and Lindsey ( Tracy) Spradlin, 20-great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law; Kenneth and Naomi Koster and Ruby Koster, all of Springfield; three special nieces, Wanda Mills, Beverly Felty and Pam Litteral and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Calvin Koster on July 19, 2011; a son, Bobby Nelson; two sisters, Mary Gentry and Cora Lee Adkins, one brother; James Collins II and her parents.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home with Pastor Joe McGlone officiating. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Hazel’s family would like to give special thanks to her niece, Rhonda for all of her loving care.
