Robert “Bob” Reffitt

WILMINGTON, Del. — Robert “Bob” Reffitt, 78, of Wilmington, formerly of the Ironton area, passed away at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del., after a lengthy and courageous bout with cancer. He was the son of the late George and Irene Willis Reffitt, of Coal Grove and a 1951 graduate of Rock Hill High School. He was of the Baptist faith, a Shriner, and a veteran who served in the Army Corp of Engineers during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise, her daughter Daryl Hoffman Verna whom he helped raise, and a brother-in-law Donald McClean Sr.
He is survived by three sons, Devin and wife Karen Reffitt of Wexford Pa.; Darin Reffitt and partner Timothy Panfile of Wilmington and Douglas and wife Cindy Scofield of California. He is also survived by his daughter, Terri Barry Snook and her husband Brad Snook of California and his late wife’s daughter Donna Hoffman Beauregard of Port St. Lucie, Fla., whom he helped raise. He is survived by 13 grandchildren, including Kara, Devin, and Dylan Reffitt of Wexford, Pa.; six great-grandchildren; former wife, Shirley Scofield of North Dakota; one sister Alice Reffitt McClean of South Point, formerly of Coal Grove; one uncle, Earl Willis of Russell Ky.; niece and husband David and Jeannie McClean Roberts; and nephews and wives, Donald and Cynthia McClean of Coal Grove and Dwaine and Terri McClean of Middletown.
Services will be held on Thursday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home, Visitation will be at 11 a.m. and funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Garden immediately following the funeral service. Memorials maybe made to the American Cancer Society.
