Drug abuse is no respector of gender, Wednesday’s Lawrence County Common Pleas Court Docket proved.
Hallie Martin, 20, of Ashland, Ky., pleaded guilty to one count of attempt to commit aggravated possession of drugs. She had originally been charged with aggravated possession of drugs.
Judge D. Scott Bowling ordered her to successfully complete a rehabilitation program at the STAR Community Justice Center and four years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation (CCS/ISP).
Further, Martin must pay a $2,500 fine and surrender her driver’s license for six months.
Martin was arrested April 11 and was in possession of oxycodone.
“My client is 20 years old and does admit she has a substance abuse problem,” Martin’s attorney, Mike Gleichauf said. “I feel she is a good candidate for STAR.”
Also Wednesday, Shayla Perkins, 19, of 3341 State Route 243, Ironton, pleaded guilty on a bill of information to one count of aggravated possession of drugs.
Bowling ordered her to successfully complete a rehabilitation program at the STAR Community Justice Center and four years CCS/ISP.
