Joanna Thacker Kinney, 81, of Ironton, died at Sanctuary Health Center of Ironton on Thursday, June 23, 2011. She was born on Feb. 6, 1930 in Coal Grove, the daughter of the late Golden and Hazel Ferguson Thacker. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the Junior Women’s Club, and operator of Kinney’s Market. She is survived by her husband Jim Kinney; three sons, Tom Kinney of Ironton, Jim Kinney of Boulder Creek, Calif., and Chris Kinney of Ironton; one brother, Dale Delong of Mount Vernon; one sister, Sue Galbreath of Sebastian, Fla.; grandchildren including Tom Kinney, Troy and Marcella Kinney, Melanie and Sadar Kartan, Michael and Kaylee Kinney; and one great grandchild, J.C. Kinney. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Carol Smith, Donna Harmon, Wilma Pennington and Patty Stone. Funeral will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Church of Ironton on Monday at 11 a.m. with Father David Huffman. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home Monday morning from 9 until 10:30 a.m.
