Britton A. Fraley

FRANKLIN FURNACE — Britton Arthur Fraley, 70, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011, at Best Care Nursing & Rehab Center in Wheelersburg. He was born Sept. 16, 1940, in Ironton, the son of the late Britton and Lennie Ferguson Fraley.

Britton was a former employee of A.O. Smith in Piqua, and he was a member of Sand Hill Christian Baptist Church. He was a 1959 graduate of Rock Hill High School, an avid fisherman and gardener, and he was a huge fan of the Cincinnati Reds. He also bowled in leagues at Sunset Lanes where he received many awards. Above all, Britton loved his family, especially his six grandchildren.

Surviving are his daughters, Melinda Lea (Ronnie) Stoneking, and Stephanie Fraley, all of Franklin Furnace; a brother, Vernon Fraley of Franklin Furnace; four sisters, Carol Loncosky of Asheville, N.C., Sharon Wilberding of Louisville, Ky., Sheila Horn of Newark, Del., and Janet Fraley of Ironton; six grandchildren, Kayla Nickels, Tiffany Stoneking, Jonthan Fraley, Jacob Fraley, Kyle Culp and Ashley Culp; and two great-grandchildren, MacKenna and Tayven Nickels.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Haverhill Cemetery with Rev. Ronald Blevins and Rev. Tony Mollett officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
