Elmer R. “Dutch” Lewis

Elmer R. “Dutch” Lewis, 92, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at River’s Bend Health Center.

The Pedro native was born March 12, 1919, the son of the late Elmer L and Goldie Kizzee Lewis. He was the husband of the late Eloise Irene Willis Lewis whom he married March 17, 1943 and preceded him in death Sept.13, 1994.

Mr. Lewis was a 1939 graduate of Kitts Hill School. He was a United States Navy World War II veteran and he was a self employed owner and operator of Lewis Radio and TV. He was a member of the 13th Street Baptist Church in Ashland, Ky.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by sister, Helen Baldwin and brother-in-law Willard Willis.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law; Nancy and Harold Gullett of Ironton; a granddaughter, Candy Gullet of Ironton and a grandson Gaylen Smith of Jackson; five great-grandchildren, Brandy Richardson of Jackson, Alex Smith of Jackson,  Brittany Smith of Berea, Ky., Taylor Smith of Jackson and Tyler Smith of Jackson; two great-great-grandchildren, Coalton and Landyn Richardson of Jackson; two sisters, Carol Burgan of Stow, and Wanda Willis of Middletown.

Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Sugar Creek Cemetery with Pastor Bill Parker officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 8850. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Ron Gregg, Clarence Wiseman, Gaylen Smith, Alex Smith, Tyler Smith and Jeremy Deer.
