Doyle Jenkins

KITTS HILL — Doyle Herbert Jenkins, 66, of Kitts Hill, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011, at his residence. The Ironton native was born May 28, 1944, the son of the late Herbert and Dorothy Nance Jenkins. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann McIntyre Jenkins, whom he married June 20, 1969.

Mr. Jenkins was a 1962 graduate of Rock Hill High School. He was in the U.S. Army Reserve, Company C478 Engineering Battalion in Ashland, Ky. from 1966-1972. He later was an employee and co-owner of Jenkins and Holliday Sohio Bulk Plant in Ironton. He later worked 30 years for Hecla Water Association retiring in 2010. He was a 40-year member, Assistant Chief and Treasurer of the Lawrence Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Ohio State Firefighters Association, Lawrence County Fire Association and a member of the Mamre Cemetery Committee and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Donald McIntyre; and a sister-in-law, Betty McIntyre.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Nissa Jenkins of Kitts Hill; four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Maxine Lambert of Ironton, Sharon and Bill Lightner of Ironton, Helen McIntyre of Kitts Hill and Emmett and Jean McIntyre of Burlington; a cousin, Perry Holliday and his wife Judy of Coal Grove; a special caregiver, Amber Linch; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery and friends may call from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jon Blankship, Paul Bruce, Chris Collier, Luke Everhart, Bryan McCarty and Gary Reynolds. Honorary Pallbearers will be Phillip Hardy, Frank Jenkins, Larry Layne, Mike Murnhan and David Webb.
