A Huntington, W.Va. man finds himself in the Lawrence County Jail after a judge said he showed up to court intoxicated.
Twenty-year-old Christopher Talbert, of 3587 Pine Ridge Road Lot 15, was in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court Wednesday morning for a pretrial hearing.
The man faces charges of trafficking in marijuana, possession of criminal tools and possessing drug abuse instruments.
“Let the record reflect that the defendant is obviously under the influence,” Judge D. Scott Bowling said, adding that a toxicology screening done earlier for the most part had been clean.
The judge revoked the man’s bond and set a trial hearing for next week.
The man’s defense attorney, Mike Gleichauf, pointed out that Talbert had shown up for the hearing.
“Yes, he has, drunk, I would say for the record,” Bowling replied. “Quite drunk, I would add for the record.”
