The Ohio State Highway patrol is investigating a car accident that killed a 29-year-old man.

Lt. Michael Gore of the patrol said the body of Jessy Gilkerson, of Miller, was found around 1 p.m. Wednesday between the 13 and 14-mile markers of State Route 7, just south of Athalia.

Gore said it appears the man drove off the right side of the road and struck a mailbox, then overcorrected and went off the other side of the roadway. He then drove over a bank, flipped and landed in some water.

The accident is believed to have happened sometime Tuesday night.

“We’ve got a lot of questions and not very many answers,” Gore said.
