A boil-water advisory is in place for Ironton water customers.
The advisory is in place since early Monday afternoon when city officials found that muddy water had been seeping into one of the city’s water tanks following recent rains.
Ironton Mayor Rich Blankenship said the city had received calls about discolored water. After looking for water leaks in the area where the discoloration had been reported, a slippage was found around the city’s older water tank, which is below ground and located on a hill on U.S. 52 between the State Route 93 exit and the State Route 141 exit.
The advisory is in place until further notice.
