PEDRO — Gary Lee Puckett Long, 40, of Pedro passed away suddenly Saturday, April 16, 2011. The Ironton native was born April 19, 1970, the youngest son of the late Perry Duke Long and Diana Gail Eaches Long of Pedro who survives.

Gary attended Rock Hill Schools and was employed by Fee Corp. Gary was of the Baptist faith and a member of Southern Ohio Gun Dog Association. He enjoyed running his dogs, hunting, fishing and bluegrass music.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by grandparents Clay and Chole Eaches and Clyde and Anna Long.

Besides his mother he is survived by daddy’s little girls, the center of his world, Layla Gail and Delilah; his fiancée, Ashley Lewis; his brother, Mike Long; nieces, Brooke Long and Brittany Kerns whom he loved dearly; great niece and nephew, Chloe and Dreyden whom he adored; many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Massie, Rev. Brian Long and Rev. Kenny Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Roy Long, Chris Spanky Long, Mark Matkins, George Long, Eddie Hackworth and Roy Lewis. Several of Gary’s close friends will be honorary pallbearers.
