Browns open preseason
with Super Bowl champs
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Browns will open their preseason — assuming there is one because of the NFL lockout — against the Super Bowl-champion Green Bay Packers.
The Browns will host the Packers sometime between Aug. 11-15 before welcoming the Detroit Lions (Aug. 18-22). The team said specific dates and kickoff times will be announced in the future.
Cleveland’s first road exhibition is in Philadelphia (Aug. 25-29), and the Browns will conclude their preseason at Chicago (Sept. 1-2). This will be the eighth straight year the Browns have met the Bears in the preseason finale.
Jets have ‘no interest’
signing WR Randy Moss
NEW YORK (AP) —The New York Jets have “no interest” in signing wide receiver Randy Moss once the lockout ends, according to a report by FOXSports.com’s Adam Schein. That refutes several reports over the weekend indicating the Jets could pursue the pending free agent.
Wide receiver Santonio Holmes said over the weekend that he still has issues with how offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer used him during the AFC Championship Game loss to Pittsburgh, and has also said he will not play for a one-year tender if he’s not given a multi-year contract.
Connecticut’s Walker
heading for NBA draft
STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut’s Kemba Walker has announced he will enter the NBA draft.
The 6-foot-1 All-American guard led the Huskies to a 32-9 record, including an 11-0 postseason run that ended with a national championship. Walker is expected to be a first-round pick, and perhaps the second guard chosen behind Duke’s Kyrie Irving.

Judge rules Taylor
low-risk sex offender
NEW CITY, N.Y. (AP) — A New york judge has ruled that ex-pro football star Lawrence Taylor is a low-risk sex offender.
Taylor pleaded guilty in January to sexual misconduct and patronizing an underage prostitute. He was sentenced last month to probation.
Rockland County Court Judge William Kelly said Taylor was not targeting children. He also said Taylor is unlikely to ever commit the same crime.
Taylor has said the girl told him she was 19. She actually was 16.
