Lady Hornets get two wins

The Coal Grove Lady Hornets picked up a 27-5 win over the St. Joseph Female Flyers last Tuesday, then won the rematch on Saturday 17-7 with both games going five innings.
In Tuesday’s game, the Lady Hornets banged out 17 singles plus doubles by Morgan Sites and a three-run home run to centerfield by freshman Kaitlynn Murphy in the fourth inning.
Freshman Kelsey Grove picked up her first win as she limited St. Joseph to three hits.
Murphy went 3-3 to pace the Coal Grove offense. Other hitting leaders were Riley, Sites and Webb all 2-2 and Adkins 1-1,
Katie Hacker was 2-3 and Chelsea Blackburn 1-3 for the Female Flyers.
On Saturday Truesdale and Grove combined for nine strikeouts in five innings to key the win.
The Female Flyers scored four runs in the first inning only to have Coal Grove storm back with 16 singles and a double by Sites in the third inning to blow the game wide-open.
Sammet was 3-3, Harmon 2-2, Sites, Webb and Mullins all 2-3, and Riley, Collins, Truesdale and Pauley 1-3. Cole went 1-1.
Sarah Neal was 2-3 to pace St. Joseph while Glennie Hopkins, Haley Glockner and Hacker all had one hit in three trips to the plate.
