Roger Stevens

FRANKLIN FURNACE — Roger Stevens, 62, of Franklin Furnace, died Thursday, March 25, 2011, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice.

He was born May 27, 1948, in Ironton, a son of the late Ellis Stevens and Ester Stapleton Hammons of Franklin Furnace. Roger was a carpenter for the construction industry. He was a graduate of Green High School and a U.S. Army veteran.

In addition to his father, a brother, Larry Stevens, preceded him in death.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his stepfather, Harold Hammonds of Franklin Furnace; four daughters, Johnda Fraley and her husband, Robert; Priscilla Marcum and Cassandra Stacey, all of South Webster, and April Stevens of Franklin Furnace; two sons, Roger F. Stevens of Franklin Furnace and Cody Stevens of South Webster; two sisters, Helen Skaggs and her husband, Raymond, and Linda Dyer, both of Franklin Furnace; a brother, Joe Stevens of South Webster; and six grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Chapel with Pastor Creed Thomas. Burial will be in Haverhill Cemetery. Friends may share memories and express condolences to the family on the Facebook page of Brown Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral chapel to help with final expenses.
