St. Patty’s Day to be feted

ASHLAND, Ky. — Ashland Main Street’s second annual St. Patty’s Day celebration will start at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Chimney Corner Café, 1624 Carter Ave.

It will go all day through dinner until closing at 11 p.m. Menu will be corned beef and hash plates as well as Reuben sandwiches and green beer.

After-school movie returns at Summit

SUMMIT, Ky. — This month’s After-School Movie at the Summit Branch of Boyd County Public Library is “Nanny McPhee Returns.”

The showing is at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at the Summit Branch, 1016 Summit Road, across from Boyd County Middle School. Admission to library movies is free, and some refreshments are provided.

Additional snacks can be purchased.

Murder mystery fundraiser set for April 29

CANNONSBURG, Ky. — Registration is now open for the Library’s annual mystery dinner program. “Murder at the Walgrave Astoria’s Annual Costume Ball” is Friday, April 29.

The event is a fundraiser for the BCPL Friends, and is also a sneak peak at the new Kyova Branch, which opens to the public on Sunday, May 1.

This is the library’s fifth murder mystery program.

Tickets to the mystery and dinner are $25 per person, and $40 per couple. Tickets are on sale at the Main, Catlettsburg or Summit branches through April 8. Those who register will receive a packet in the mail detailing their character, with suggestions on how to dress and act that evening. Those character packs will be mailed the week of April 11.

The event starts at 7 p.m. The new Kyova Branch is located in the mall near Sears, and across from Elder-Beerman.
