Ironton Little League
tryouts set Saturday
The Ironton Little League will conduct tryouts and final registration Saturday in the Ironton Middle School gym.
Anyone one interested in playing, coaching or managing should registers at this time.
Here is the schedule:
9:30 a.m. boys and girls minor league (age 7-8);
10 a.m. boys and girls little league (age 9-10);
10:45 a.m. boys and girls little league (ages 11-12).
All players should bring a glove and wear indoor shoes — no cleats. Any player unable to tryout Saturday may do so at 5 p.m. on Monday at the middle school.
Ironton district tourney
tickets now on sale
Ironton boys’ and girls’ district tournament tickets are on sale for $6 at the Ironton auto tech shop building and at Bob Linn Sporting Goods.
The girls play at 1 p.m. Saturday against Eastern Brown in the district finals at Ohio University.
The boys play at 3:45 p.m. Sunday against Meigs in the district semifinals at Ohio University.
Fans are encouraged to buy tickets in advance. The school receives only 25 percent of the presale and nothing from sales at the area.
Rock Hill Little League
set registration dates
The Rock Hill Little League will conduct registrations for players ages 4 through 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Rock Hill Middle School.
Also, Rock Hill Elementary will have cheerleader registrations for grades 3-to-6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the middle school library. Fee is $50.
District 13 all-star game
March 21 at Jackson
The Ohio High School District 13 Basketball Coaches Association will host its annual senior all-star game on Monday, March 21, at Jackson High School.
The girls’ game begins at 6 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow.
A 3-point shooting and dunk contests will be held between games. The contest is open to seniors as well as underclassmen.
Admission is $5.
Portsmouth to host
annual coaches clinic
PORTSMOUTH — The Touchdown Club at Portsmouth High School will host its 15th annual football coaches clinic Saturday, March 12, at Portsmouth High School.
The coaches social will start at 8 p.m. Friday at the Welcome Center in Portsmouth. The clinic will be on Saturday.
The cost of the clinic includes a pizza/wings/bar-b-cue buffet at the social and a ribs and wings buffet for lunch after the clinic.
There will be 11 speakers at the clinic. Keynote spaker is Greg Gillum of Ohio State who will give the presentation, “Recruiting High School Athletes: Perception vs. Reality.”
Cost is $40 per coach or $150 for a staff up to six and $200 for seven or more.

Rio Grande hosting
youth cage tournament
Sports are still available for teams in the University of Rio Grande youth basketball tournament for boys in grades 3-6 and girls in grades 5-6.
The tourament will be held Saturday and Sunday, March 12-13, at the Rio Grande Lyne Center.
Boys’ divisions are grades 3-4 and 5-6. Fee is $100. Deadline is Friday.
