William R. “Billy” Salyers

SOUTH POINT – William R. “Billy” Salyers, 51, of South Point, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at his residence. The South Point native was born Feb. 12, 1959, the son of Dianna Floyd Barnett of South Point and the late Charles Ray Barnett.

Mr. Salyers attended South Point schools and was a contract painter. He was a member of Sunrise Nazarene Church. The joy of his life was being with children and grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and helping his mother with anything she needed. He was the best peacemaker anyone could ask for. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He will be missed by all.

In addition to his mother he is survived by one son, William Joshua Trobaugh of Springfield, Tenn.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brooke and Anival Raudales of Greenbriar, Tenn. and Brandi and Juan Ortega of Springfield, Tenn.; six brothers, Charles Barnett of Proctorville, Tim Barnett and Randy Barnett, both of South Point, Kevin Barnett of Chesapeake, Johnny Salyers of Salt Rock, W.Va., and Danny Salyers of Ironton.; three sisters, Evonda Barnett of Chesapeake, Rhonda Curnell of Ironton, and Marlene Elliott of Grayson, Ky.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home, with Rev. Bryan Malott officiating. Burial will follow in Dixon Cemetery. Friends may call today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
