CHESAPEAKE — Just like the Kentucky Derby, the Chesapeake Lady Panthers were off and running.

The Lady Panthers went on a 19-0 run to start the game and never looked back as they bounced the Green Lady Bobcats 66-26 Monday.

“It was good to see us play well for four quarters. We needed to put together a full game now that were getting into the toughest part of our schedule,” said Lady Panthers’ coach Chris Ball.

The Lady Panthers (6-1) host South Point Thursday in a key Ohio Valley Conference game.

Amanda Ruffner scored 26 points and had six steals to lead the Lady Panthers. Sarah Mayo had 11 assists, six rebounds and three steals to go with six points.

Gidget Timberman led Green (1-8) with 12 points, three rebounds and two steals.

Ruffner scored 12 points in the first quarter as Chesapeake built a 21-2 lead.

The Lady Panthers went up 33-10 at the half despite five points by Timberman in the second quarter.

Ruffner got eight more in the third quarter to offset five by Green’s Jenna Crawford as Chesapeake extended the lead to 47-19.

Jordan Porter had nine points of the bench to pace the Chesapeake reserves.
