Gary (Perk) Myers

DEERING – Gary (Perk) Myers, 75, of Deering, died Dec. 31, 2010, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. He was born July 28, 1935, in Coal Grove, the son of the late Eugene and Ella Bell Cable Myers. He was a member of Community Missionary Baptist Church and a TNT director of AWANA. He served on the Dawson-Bryant School Board and was one of the founders of Coal Grove Little League. Mr. Myers was a veteran of the Air Force Korean Conflict, retired from Armco Steel, and a retired instructor at Lawrence county Vocational School Diesel Mechanics Department.
He was preceded by one daughter, Mary Annetta Myers; one sister, Wanda Jean Morrison; brothers, William Myers, Robert Myers, Richard Myers, and Paul David (Butch) Myers.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Corn Myers, with whom he celebrated a 51st anniversary Feb. 10, 2010; three daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Charles Boyd of South Point; Deedrea and Phil Smith of Apex N.C. and Stephanie Myers of Deering; one son and daughter-in-law Shayne and Rebecca Myers of Deering; two sisters, Mrs. Loretta Fosson of Ashland, Ky. and Virginia L (Sugar) Allen of South Point; two brothers, Charles Kenneth Myers Kitts Hill and Terry Michael Myers of Coal Grove; seven grandchildren, Shanna Ratliff, Joshua Ratliff, Desiree Butler, Brittany Butler, Rikki Butler, Garrett Myers, Jacob Myers, and one great grand daughter Bryleigh Hamilton.
Funeral will be at noon Thursday O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home with Dave Lambert and Mark Roach Officiating. Burial will be in Community Cemetery V.F.W. Post 8850 will perform military honors. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
