Female Flyers’ basketball program makes successful return with win

NEW BOSTON — You have to crawl before you can walk. The St. Joseph Female Flyers have begun to move on that path.
After dropping the program last year, the Female Flyers returned to the court on Saturday with a 24-22win over the New Boston Lady Tigers’ junior varsity.
“I think the girls were really nervous but they had fun,” said Female Flyers’ coach Nick Miller. “It was nit to get the program going again.”
Four Female Flyers’ did all the scoring. Molly Miller had eight points, Katie Hacker seven, Sarah Neal five and Becca Patrick added four.
The game was tied 4-4 at the end of the first quarter. St. Joseph then outscored New Boston 10-5 in the second quarter to lead 14-9 at the break.
They led 21-12 after three quarters before holding on for the win as they withstood three 3-pointers by New Boston.
The Female Flyers host Covenant Christian at 6 p.m. Monday.
