Anyone who wants to help the Secret Santa project can do so by sending their checks of any amount they wish made out to the LEDC Secret Santa and sent to the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce office, P.O. Box 488, South Point, OH 45680.

BURLINGTON — Another local business has stepped up to help out this season’s Secret Santa program.

On Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Casa Grande, the new Mexican restaurant in Burlington, will donate 10 percent of their total sales to the program.

“Carlos Ortiz, the new owner, has been very enthusiastic, very involved with the chamber,” Casey Baker of the Young Professionals said.

This is the second time the Young Professionals, a Chamber of Commerce organization, has coordinated the Secret Santa program that provides much needed warm clothing and toys for children from birth to 12 years old.

This year the need is especially acute and the Young Professionals are grateful to all who are helping them make Christmas a happier one for so many children in Lawrence County.

“This is tremendous,” Baker said. “It is really leveraging with so many more people who might not be aware of how they can help. Just by going and eating dinner or lunch, you can help make Christmas happen.”

There are so many who have given of their time and money to help these children.

Cross Community Church is sponsoring 100 children this Christmas, more than twice the number they did last holiday.

McSweeney’s in South Point is sponsoring 20 children.

“That was probably the first offer for sponsorship that I got,” Baker said.

Other businesses, schools and civic organizations that are involved are City National Banks in Proctorville and Ironton, Fairland and Dawson-Bryant school districts, Ironton Fire Department, , Lawrence County Job and Family Services, Leadership Tri-State, Southern Ohio Trenching, Ironton Lions Club, Palmetto GBA and Mahajan Therapeutics.
