Man gets 11 months for theft

A Coal Grove man will serve 11 months in prison for theft.
Waymon D. Smith Jr., 21, of 412 High St., Coal Grove, pleaded guilty to theft, a fifth-degree felony in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court Wednesday. Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced Smith to 11 months in prison with credit for time served.
In other cases:
David J. Malalnowski, 30, of Rural Route 2 Box 146 A, Ona, W.Va., was sentenced to four years of community-controlled sanctions and ordered to undergo drug counseling. Bowling also ordered the man to pay a mandatory fine of $1,250 and court costs.
Aaron Fields, 21, pf 1528 S. Fourth St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to theft, a fifth-degree felony. Judge Charles Cooper sentenced Fields to 11 months of community-controlled sanctions and ordered him to successfully complete the STAR community justice program. Fields was also ordered to pay $2,965 in restitution.
Alfred Williams, 50, of 945 Fordson Ave., Labelle, Fla., was sentenced last Friday to five years in prison for drug charges. Williams was charged complicity to aggravated drug trafficking and aggravated drug possession.
