OUS joins community in honoring veterans

IRONTON — The community is invited to the Fourth Annual Frank J. McCown Lecture Series entitled: Honoring Our Veterans: Past, Present, and Future.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Riffe Center, Mains Rotunda, 1804 Liberty Avenue, Ironton.
The keynote speaker is Judge Richard Walton, retired Court of Common Pleas, Lawrence County. Judge Walton served in the 7th Cavalry, second Squadron, in the U.S. Army. All veterans and their families are encouraged to attend this event that includes opening remarks from OUS Associate Dean, Ella McCown.
Ohio University student, Chris Hayes, who serves in the US Army, 82nd Airborne Division will welcome attendees followed by the Presentation of Colors from Cub Scout Pack, 152 from Louisa, Kentucky.
Local performers Katie Owens, an OU Middle Childhood Education student, Chuck Robertson, Catherine Cirner, and Mike Black will provide music for the event.
The American Flag presentation will be made by the VFW Post 6878 in Proctorville with John Weber, Master Sergeant, U.S. Army, Retired and Markin Yelton, Sergeant 1st Class, U.S. Army, retired.
