LAWRENCE COUNTY — Lawrence Malone, 84, passed away Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born July 9, 1926, the son of the late Floyd and Catherine Malone. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Audrey Miller Malone, whom he married Sept. 21, 1946.

Mr. Malone was a graduate of Waterloo School and a U.S. Navy WWII veteran. He was a factory supervisor for Wilson’s Sporting Goods and the Dayton Malleable Iron Co. and a former farmer. He was a member of Slabfork United Methodist Church where he was the Sunday school superintendent and a trustee. He also served on the Slabfork Cemetery Board. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Orville Malone, Floyd Malone, Cecil Malone and Orlyn Malone; and four sisters, Stella Massie, Emogene Miller, Maxine Malone, and Kathleen Davis

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence Wayne and Jackie Malone of Dayton; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Ray and Anna Malone of Pedro; granddaughter and her husband, Vanessa and Swain Tedder of Dayton; granddaughter and her husband, Michelle and Joe Curran of Dayton; granddaughter and her husband, Kristen and Chad Ratliff of Pedro; granddaughter and her husband, Jessica and Zach French of Pedro; grandson and his wife, Michael L. and Autumn Malone of Pedro; and 10 great grandchildren, Kaitlin Tedder, Jackson Tedder, Ethan Tedder, Samuel Curran, Braydon Malone, Owen Tedder, Mason Ratliff, Patrick Curran, Mycah Malone, and Gavin Malone.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Max Donahue officiating. Burial will follow in Slabfork Cemetery. Friends may call today from 1-3 pm. at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
