Community Hospice offers many thanks for the success of our First Annual Run in Remembrance 5K that was held on Saturday, Oct. 16 in Ironton.

First we would like to thank Mayor Rich Blankenship, the city of Ironton, the Ironton Police Department and MTS Ambulance for their support and participation in this event.

Our race brought 156 runners and walkers to the city of Ironton on Saturday.

This race would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors. Therefore, we would like to thank Elite Rehab and Fitness, Ohio University Southern, McGinnis, Inc., WesBanco, Bob Clyse, Phillips Funeral Home, Creative Financial Solutions, Ohio River Bank, River Cities Bone and Joint Centre (Dr. Joseph Leith), The Ironton Tribune, Dr. Joseph Bajorek, MD PSC, ESM Fabrication and Ison Excavating & Contracting, LLC. Also a very special thanks to those who donated items needed for the race, 7-Up, Bartram and Sons Grocers, Walmart, Sam’s Club and McDonalds. Thanks to the many area businesses that donated items for our door prizes.

We would like to also thank all of the volunteers who helped keep the race course safe for the participants. Students and teachers from Ironton High School and Hospice employees and volunteers worked very hard to make this a successful race.

Thanks to the community for your cooperation in working with the volunteers to keep our race route clear of traffic. All of the race participants were running or walking in memory of a loved one, so this was a very special event for everyone.

It is with the continued support of the communities we serve that Community Hospice can provide quality end-of-life care to those in need.
