Female Flyers to host ‘Volley for the Cure’

Your help is appreciated more than you will ever know.

Fans have a chance to make a bigger difference than just rooting their team on to victory when the St. Joseph Female Flyers host Ohio Valley Christian Monday.

The game will be the backdrop for a Susan G Komen “Volley For the Cure” volleyball game as all proceeds will go toward research for the cure of breast cancer.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and there will be various activities such as raffles and other means of making donations. Admission to the game is $5.

1979 & 1989 title teams

Ironton High School will recognize the 1979 and 1989 state championship football teams during the Ironton vs. Columbus Bishop Hartley football game Friday, Oct. 15.

The 1979 team stunned Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary’s 7-6 in the closing minutes of the game to give Ironton its first state football championship.

The 1989 team turned in a stellar defensive effort and knocked off Campbell Memorial 12-7.

IHS spaghetti dinner

The Ironton High School cheerleaders will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15, in the Central Christian Church gym prior to the Ironton vs. Bishop Hartley football game.

Dinners are $7 for adults and $5 for students. Dinner includes salad, roll, and drink.
