No injuries were reported in a fire that damaged a house on Township Road 275 in Proctorville Wednesday night. About 25 firefighters from Proctorville, Chesapeake and Rome volunteer fire departments responded to the blaze, said Ed Webb, assistant chief the of Proctorville Fire Department.
When the call came in around 8:30 p.m., the two-story residence was fully engulfed, he said.
“We had a tremendous amount of response,” Webb said. “At least eight fire trucks.
We had to shuttle water in.”
There were no nearby fire hydrants. Firefighters worked until about midnight, he said.
The homeowners were not home during the fire. Webb said the residents were in the process of remodeling the home and may have been living elsewhere.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
